Five more Walgreen’s stores have closed in the city by the bay. Due to a socialist DA that will not prosecute “non-violent” crime. A spokesman for the retailer said SF locations have five times the chains national average for shoplifting. SF mayor was quoted saying “That (Walgreen’s) store was only robbed 7 times this year”.

Not sure about Cali, but Illinois actually has separate statutes for robbery and shoplifting

California’s energy strategy has baffled experts for years. They didn’t want fossil fuels or nuclear. There are a lot of ways to generate electricity. But none of those options scale to the degree nuclear or fossil plants can produce. What’s ironic is they really didn’t invest enough in the alternatives they claim to want. How did the dumbass politicians and the nitwits that elected them think this was going to end?

I’ve mentioned before I was once in that biz. After being dispatched to work on a project for a few weeks, I’d often seek a decent local watering hole to avoid the monotony of the motel room. Invariably, you strike up a conversation with someone and that leads to where you work and what do you do.

I can’t tell you how many times some smart young thing who had an opinion about everything as every college freshman does would go from friendly to hostile the second I mentioned my employer and what I did for a living. Coal power plants were belching poisons into our air. Nuclear power was going to end the world and everybody knows that a boiling water reactor is not much different from a huge nuclear bomb. What kind of toxic world was I helping create? Why was I doing something that gave children cancer?

I was also young but being a fast learner I wised up, I told people I was a social worker. I started getting laid more frequently.

It does make sense to develop new ways of generating the power we need. It took 150 years to build and refine the systems we have today. This is what people don’t get. It will cost trillions to replace it and years to refine the technology. If hippie dumbasses and politicians hadn’t halted R&D and encouraged further development of nuclear power for the past 50 years, we might be in a better position right now.

So… when the lights go out in LA and nobody can flush a toilet, cook, or cool their home I officially do not care.
