Variable Power Scopes On SUB2000

If you are running a variable power scope, show us pics. I want to see what people are doing.
Thanks!

Ok, I’ll go first. Nikon 1.5-6 on top. I probably won’t have this much longer, as a new owner looks to be in it’s future. In the meantime, it’s a ton of fun and very accurate.

@Yuk I respect and can appreciate what you have done. However, I think a lot of users view the S2K as a carbine and are looking to keep it quick and fast, they are going with red dots and holos for fast aquisition.

That said…keep on being you brother!

I know that @Turmeric is doing something similar with his rig trying to push for those longer ranges. :+1:

Wow, rave on Brother! @Turmeric you a fan of Kris Kyle? Your sub looks like something from Star Wars! Have thought about a variable in the 1-6x range. Don’t want to lose the CQB potential of the 2K.
Be sure to post results of range tests.

CQB potential enough ? @25yds less that 3 seconds. I will let you guess the last group.

Thanks for the encouragement Johnksg. Your thoughts were exactly what I had in mind when I bought the S2K in the first place. The scope was only installed on whim. When I realized how accurate this little rifle can be I was shocked! The following slow fire, 10 shot group, was made at 50 meters, with 124 grain Blazer Brass. The magazine base was balanced on a solid bench, no front support (other than my supported elbow), or rear bag were used. I measure my groups from the hole centres. Those who measure from edge to edge may compensate accordingly.

Btw… I believe there is absolutely no way I could have shot this group without the MCARBO trigger spring kit and flat trigger. Those parts absolutely transformed the rifle into a tack driver. Thank you MCARBO!!

the scope as described has this reticle scope price $279 Details

The Primary Arms 4-14x44mm illuminated rifle scope was our first step into first focal plane (FFP) optics and remains one of the most cost-effective options on the market. Having a reticle stay ‘true’ through the entire magnification range opens a world of possibility for hunters, marksman, and competitors everywhere. Add in “built like a tank” construction and a 3-year warranty, and it’s easy to see why this scope is so popular.

Features:

  • ACSS HUD DMR 5.56 Reticle offers a host of great features in a clean intuitive design tuned for .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO
  • First Focal Plane reticle stays true at all magnifications
  • 6-illumination settings powered by a common CR2032 battery
  • High strength aircraft grade aluminum body
  • Side-adjustable parallax and fast focus eye piece for crisp view of the target and reticle
  • 30mm main tube compatible with your favorite rings and mounts
  • Tactile and audible 1/10 MIL windage and elevation adjustments
  • Exposed tactical style turrets with Zero Reset
  • Shockproof, waterproof, and fog resistant
  • Parallax adjusts from 15 yards to infinity!
  • Excellent glass clarity
  • 3 Year warranty

At the heart of the 4-14x44mm rifle scope is our advanced first focal plane ACSS HUD DMR .308 reticle. Tuned specifically for popular 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem loads, the ACSS HUD DMR 5.56 reticle offers a remarkable number of advanced features in a clean and intuitive design. Leads for moving targets out to a full 600 yards, wind leads, ranging, and bullet drop out to 1,000 yards, and even a MIL-ranging system are built in to the clean design. An illuminated horseshoe and center chevron allow for remarkably fast engagement of close-in targets. At any range, hits are intuitive without any need for math or digging through data books! Simply range, hold, and break the shot!

A scope that won’t hold up to real world use won’t do any good, so we built our 4-14x44mm FFP tactical rifle scope to last with a heavy-duty aircraft grade 6063 aluminum body and 30mm main tube. Waterproof, shockproof, and fog resistant, this scope is perfectly at home on an AR-15 or your favorite hunting rifle. Even better, the MIL/MIL turrets track correctly through their full 17.5 MIL adjustment range, allowing for confident adjustments for shooters who prefer to count their clicks. With clear glass, heavy duty construction, and a true first focal plane reticle that can be leveraged at every magnification, the 4-14x44mm rifle scope from Primary Arms offers shooters a versatile and effective rifle scope, covered by our 3-year warranty!

Note: While the ACSS HUD DMR 5.56 reticle is compatible with some .308 Winchester loadings, we recommend the dedicated ACSS-HUD-DMR-308 model for those rifles.

while the balistics for range is OFF the windage can give some relief and the ranging scales are balls on.

@Turmeric, This appears to be a scope I want for my WWII K98. The K98 has been a tack driver at 300 yds, but now days the 30 yr old 6x weaver scope just doesn’t help my old 77 yr old eyes. Thanks for a great post. :+1: And, totally agree with the STRESS definition.

As I get on with, several of you, in the same state of life, enjoy simple pleasures. Nice affordable companionship.
You know how to read tables of info and the design gives you a familiar picture what to do.
Not an add ! Good product/price point as MCARBO At least !!!

@russ a K98? Those are pretty hard to come by these days as everyone stripped the actions for custom rifles…you sir are a man of good taste!

The K98 was an inheritance from my dad (83rd Mortar Batt.). He like many GIs brought back souvenirs.

Wanted to keep it as close to its origins as possible. Did cut 2 in. off barrel, removed ladder sight, shortened stock, and added scope. Will be purchasing a new fiberglass stock and variable power scope for it. Will post pics when done.
