Sub 2000 extended butt pad options

I asked this question on another forum, but thought I’d run it past you folks as well. Are there any extended butt pad options out there for the Sub 2000 gen 2 other than the ones from M*Carbo and Missouri Tactical? I currently have the Missouri Tactical pad and like it, but would really something thicker, as I have longer arms, and am a lefty
Thanks

Not that I’m aware of.

Hug the gun more like your wife. Both will react positively.

Absolutely :grinning:

How much are you thinking in terms stock as to where you want to be?
I am thinking you could slice a section from the MCARBO and stack it using longer screws.

That’s an idea, Thanks!

You can make your own and customize it to the size you need. The info below is from a previous post, but the images to that probably were lost, so I am reposting.

The flat piece is craft foam for this example, but I used a nice piece of supple black leather for the final version on my S2K. You can use anything similar from vinyl to fake fur. For a thicker butt pad, use floor mat foam for the inner piece and enlarge the dimensions of the outside piece to wrap completely over it. You need to punch holes in the cover piece at the outer perimeter of whatever you are going to use for your recoil pad and these holes need to line up with the two holes you are going to drill in the buttstock. Roughly ¾” in from each corner is what I used based on where I drilled the buttstock holes.

Instead of wrapping the cable ties around the outside of everything, we are going to feed them partially through and underneath the rectangular piece for a more finished appearance. I’ll switch to bright green cable ties to make that easier to follow.

Note I’ve rounded the upper corners. This will also give a more finished appearance when it is attached to the gun. Also see how the cable tie is routed as this will keep it from showing at the back of the gun. Below are the matching holes that need to be drilled into the buttstock of the gun.

At this point, you can glue the two pieces together or you can leave them as is and let the cable ties hold everything together once it is strapped to the gun. If you glue it, be sure to slide the ties periodically while the glue is setting so they don’t get glued as well. If you are going to use a leather or other reusable/permanent piece, do not glue so that you can periodically replace the foam recoil pad section as it deteriorates while keeping the permanent leather piece.

There you have the finished recoil pad installed on the gun using the butt ugly green cable ties. It looks much nicer with regular black cable ties. I kept the finished pad fairly low on the stock to avoid any possible interference with the sight, but there actually is plenty of room to extend it higher if you wish.

Now try to imagine it with a nicely grained and supple piece of leather as the outside piece. That is what I used for my gun below (which also uses the black cable ties). I added small 1/4 inch grommets where the cable ties come through to avoid tearing and give a neater appearance and discovered that the best place to find a varied assortment of small grommets is not at a hardware or craft store but at a fabric and sewing center where the nice sales ladies will look at you like some Troglodyte before correcting you and calling them “eyelets” instead of grommets. Many come with a nylon washer to reinforce the leather or other “fabric” to help prevent tearing. You can’t see it here, but I glued a piece of craft foam to the back of the leather to reinforce it before I learned of the nylon washers provided with the “eyelets”.

All great ideas, I just don’t like the look, but that’s me. I bought a stock pad off Ebay. Fit For SUB-2000G2 Rifle Recoil Non-Slip Buttstock Reducing Pad Black New For $14.90. It’s thicker than th Mc, I like it.

I wear a shooting vest, with a recoil gel pad that sits in a pocket, when I clay shoot. Although I don’t need the added extension on my shotgun, it definitely would help you Ken.

That’s great, it seems like they have a very fast turnaround for upgrades! Like I said, they did mine under 2hrs during the tour!

Lets us know how it is when you get it back.

I’m itching to go to the range and try out my new S&W, but we have a lot going on with our kids and grandkids until next month! ,(I may sneak away for an hour or 2)

Thanks TT, I’m pretty excited about getting it back. Now the only thing left is a two point sling, unless of course I want to dip it in gold, oh, that’s right, I already have :joy::joy::joy:
Enjoy your time with family

Probably the same one I got on Amazon for about the same price. Kinda slips over the butt and really grips your shoulder nicely.

Knock off of Missouri Tactical’s.

Yup, same one. I buy from Ebay now and then because they accept PayPal. I like using PayPal with a debit card instead of credit cards, but don’t like using/storing debit on any sight! PayPal has the extra security cushion, which came in handy multiple times for me!

I also found the same type for my AR !

Evening TT, the Pridefend looks darn near identical to my Missouri Tactical, but for a way better price. I did order a Magpul MS1 QDM two point Sling in Coyote today, as well as the needed mounts, and once again, my wife just shook her head and smiled. I will say, I’ve really had a good time thinking through the customization process, but am glad it’s finally winding down….Now for the next project :grinning::grinning::grinning:

…but PayPal has your bank info…

Yes, but they add an extra layer of security and they are an insured entity. Very secure.

Lol! Someone on the S&W forum said “welcome to the forum, give your credit cards to your wife and join a support group”! I thought that was hilarious! (But true)

You do you but know what kind of company you’re supporting.

They’ve since pulled back on pulling back on fining you for wrong think.

Like I said you do you but know you’re supporting the enemy. I’m just making you aware of what they are.

Kenk, Here’s the solution that I came up with for a real recoil pad for the Sub 2k.
