S2k recoil spring and locking pin

Hello brotherhood members,
Im brand new to this forum and to MCarbo. I have recently completed most of the MCarbo upgrades to my Sub2k. Chris did an outstanding job in his instalation videos and without them i would have needed them to perform them install. The only area of somewhat difficulty was installing the new locking pin to the recoil spring guide wires. I actually succeeded by using a second set of hands. My sincere question to any one out is has any who has performed this install used a spring compression tool. Ive seen them for car valve springs and just wondering if that type of tool would make it easier? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much to all.

Welcome! Theres a twist method most of the guys find easy. I just wrestled mine against a block of wood with a small indent. I figured out a different type of compression device ( in my head) to try if i had to do it over.

Absolutely a second set of hands is beneficial, I compressed the spring, and my wife attached the end piece replacement

I’m also an FNG here and the bolt handle with recoil pin is my first addition to the stock firearm for me. I watched the installation video and have no doubts it works. However it kicked my ass, likely because I’m old and decrepit. So I cried Uncle and its going in for the installation service in tomorrow’s mail. Now we’ll see what the turn-around time is.

Well, as an update, Today I got my updated recoil spring in the mail. Which puts the turn around time for their retaining pin install at one week including transit time. Went together just fine and now I have to wait till the weekend to go to the range to try it out.
