So I picked up my Sub 2K yesterday and went straight to the range and ran 100 rounds through it along with my new 9mm shield. (I’m hooked!), I have an optic that I plan to add with the flip up Mcarbo mount, but I want to first get use to the OEM sights on it first. However, I do not like the sights at all. The rear sight is just too small and a bit low. so I ordered the Mcarbo peep flip sight which is a bit taller and has a larger diameter peep hole, I hope it will be an improvement. The front sight post is just not visible enough. I see all the painted aftermarket post, however, I think by just painting my OEM post will make a big difference.
If anyone on this forum has painted the sight post, have you removed it to paint it, or just painted it in place?
@ThirstyTraveler I painted mine in place. If you"re using a luminescent or fluorescent type of paint, use a flat white basecoat first.
Thanks.
I’m thinking white. I already have it. I was also wondering is it better to dip the entire top of the post in the paint or brush it on?

I prefer a fine brush, I find it more controlled.
That looks like the Blitzkried chevron. I was looking at those. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks to me every adjustment needs to be 2 clicks. If so does it make it difficult to do elevation adjustments? The OEM front sight on the Sub2K is a 4 corner post, one click at a time. Or am I overthinking it?
TT
Not overthinking. Blitzkreig is 2 or 4 clicks of resolution on elevation depending on the model selected.
I’m partial to fluorescent orange on my carbine and pistols. Easier to pick up on white or brown targets.
I run red fiber optic front sights for the same reason on most everything.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I made a mistake on my original post, the front sight on my Sub2K is round not a 4 post, like originally thought.
I’ve ordered white paint for now, that’s what I’m use to. But I may experiment with some of the suggested colors. I’m also thinking I may prefer optics over irons once I get started with them,

I painted mine with KG Site Kote. Base layer of white then a top coat of multiple color options. Makes em pop.
I can’t see red as well as yellow or yellow/green. I mix yellow and green sight paint until it’s bright enough. Put it on my M1, making sure I got just a square on the tip. My red Lion sight on the S2K is replaceable, just like an AR. I put a Mako post with a green luminescent tip (it was on sale and turned out great). The Blitzkreigs are blades and not posts, so that’s why you have to turn them around through 180 - but I don’t know that it would make that much of a difference when you consider what the S2K is for (not bullseyes at 500 yds). I do read that some of their models need a different sight adjustment tool than just a regular AR sight tool because of the blade shape.
Cool, thanks. I ordered the redlion flip down sight for the sub, don’t know if I’ll paint it, if I even install it because with the Mcarbo optic mount and the right riser, I might not need the flip down sight with my optic lens . I’ll know once I receive everything and I put it to the test.

I agree, the iron sights are not ideal. I grabbed a bottle of white nail polish from my daughter and used a toothpick to carefully dab it on, it made a huge difference.
