How many rounds until your stock internal Sub2000 started feeling funny?

I’m pushing probably somewhere near 500-750 rounds and I haven’t done any internal upgrades. Stock trigger and feed ramp. I shoot anywhere from 50-100 rounds when I visit the range and I inspect the feed ramp and chamber after every visit. Still no visible damage but I don’t know if it’s just me but the trigger is starting to feel a little more squishy. I mean the trigger is very very bad compared to my Glock. I don’t have any jams or failure to feed or anything yet though, fortunately. I’m just wondering how long anyone lasted before they finally had to do something about the internals.

I have at least 5,000 rounds through mine with no internal mods other than the SS feed ramp.

Well damn I guess I feel way better. My trigger just feels spongier than I remember but maybe I’m just comparing with my other rifle that has a better trigger. Did you change the feed ramp as a preemptive measure or did the plastic one fail?

I did it preemptively. Just seemed like a high wear point that was fairly easily replaced. Most here would have done the trigger group as well, but I found the trigger acceptable and could not justify the cost. Maybe I got lucky on my trigger.

If you’re even in south central PA you can try mine. You’ll quickly change your mind regarding the stock trigger.

I’m so tempted, probably going to order in the near future

Just do it all at once. All the internals.

It’s the best time you’ll only ever want to have once.

I test fired mine as soon as I purchased it just to make sure it was functional and to get a feel for all the plastic and kinda low quality inners. I think I put maybe 200-250 rounds through it. I was surprised that it wasn’t all that bad out of the box, except for the trigger, I didn’t want for anything.

Then, what stuck in my head was the fact that it had a plastic feed ramp. I just couldn’t leave it in there. Then I started looking and playing with that plastic trigger guard/lock. I said that’s gotta go too! Then I went down the proverbial rabbit hole and did every single upgrade I could find. It definitely made a huge difference, but I could’ve spent that money on a nice AR with upgrades! But the sub is fun and interesting to shoot, and quite the conversation piece = priceless!

I definitely recommend upgrading to the full trigger package, at the very least. I want to run a lot more rounds through it. Hopefully this summer when I get to see my kids, when they come to visit, they will enjoy it. Still, I don’t think I would put too much heat on it all at once, maybe, 20 rounds, let it cool a bit during a reload, and repeat. I wouldn’t load stick after stick. How about you guys? How do you shoot your sub? Anybody let’er smoke?

I have run three 33 Rd sticks through without stopping. Had a bad day and took it out on the target. Felt great but I don’t know how much more abuse she’d take like that. No problems when I did it but if my life depended on mag dumps the s2k wouldn’t be my first choice.

That’s good to know. Wonder if anyone else has same or different experiences?

Most ive done is 2 big sticks & double taps about a second between. No issues,

Everyone needs to dump a couple sticks at least once in your life.

Talk about a stress reliever!

I’ve ran three 33 sticks on 2 or 3 occasions when I had some buddies join me at the range, but normally I preload two 33 sticks and I empty one then switch to my Glock then back to the Sub2000. Sometimes I might load another 33 stick. No issues whatsoever, it’s really favorite gun but if I had the trigger upgrade that would be the icing on top.
