We thought they had found the remains ofy namesake last summer but probably not. Dad and a couple aunts and uncles got a call from a navy guy who was asking for DNA samples because they found his bomber that went down in the Pacific. He was the navigator. They ran out of fuel a couple klicks short of their airfield and went down in WWII. He was the Jr to my name and my grandpa was his brother. Grandpa named my dad the third and I’m the fourth.

Anyway they were keeping my dad in the loop but went quiet around January or so. Likely not enough genes to do a proper match.

Before my grandpa died, though, my dad took him to reunion for the airmen. Grandpa got to talk to a couple guys who knew him well and one who saw the plane go down.

Hopefully one day they’ll identify him
