April 2023 Sharpshooter Match Announcement

April 2023 Sharpshooter Match Announcement

Greetings and welcome to all. Our monthly series is open to all forum members and their families. Standardized targets are available for you to print at your convenience. An opportunity to work on fundamentals while improving your marksmanship skills. You can find a division (or two) that is agreeable for the whole family. Our goal is promoting skill advancement in a safe and friendly competition. We shoot five rounds per target for score. You are encouraged to shoot only one target, but the choice is yours. You may shoot as many as you wish but are allowed only one submission per division. All target submissions must be in the “Mail In Match” topic for scoring.

On to business at hand, this announcement is a day early because the 1st is a Saturday, I’m on the west side of our nation and by the time I could post, a good many will have already had the chance to get out for some group therapy. And I have the chance to get out tomorrow myself and don’t want to get to the club late.

The series rules can be found here. The emphasis is on marksmanship, not the gear.

Iron sight bonuses remain in effect and apply to all handgun and rifle divisions. For those of you just joining us;
25yd rifle divisions shot with iron sights will receive a 2-point bonus.
50yd rifle divisions shot with iron sights receive a 4-point bonus.
100yd rifle divisions shot with iron sights will receive an 8-point bonus.
200yd rifle divisions shot with iron sights will receive a 10-point bonus.
HG-1 & 2 will receive a 2-point bonus.

The Duckies target is still available, scoring is:
A hit in the red will score double while a hit within the circle will score points listed in the upper left of the target. A hit to the duck will score one point regardless of row. All duck hunters will be allowed a 25-point handicap. Five rounds for score.

And the following are also allowed:
Standard Target
X Ring Target
Progressive Target

Feel free to submit a target for consideration.

Good luck and good shooting.

Hi Festus, I hate to bug you again but is there a March A1 thread open yet? I had a 4 day weekend and was able to get to the range twice over it. The weather was beautiful for my area, about 50 degrees and sunny both days. It was awesome

@Bogart , 96 hour pass always nice. Opened A1 for you.
