1911 Guys, Do You Like Rails?

I personally don’t like rails on a 1911. Looks better without.
I’m not a light or laser user, so no need for one on mine.
I’m not a purist. I like a variety of calibers and brands.

I am curious as to how many do and don’t prefer rails.
So please click on an option and post why in a reply.

Rails: Yes or No?
  • Yes, I prefer rails on my 1911
  • No, I do not want rails on my 1911
  • Doesn’t matter, I like any 1911

I picked closest to truth. I have one railed, but most of mine are unrailed.

My actual answer is that I like a rail iff I want to attach something to the pistol.

Even if I were not attaching anything I think a rail updates the look of the 1911, just my opinion.

I guess it would depend on the rail. I’d love to put a holosun red dot on mine.

All downhill since the original. :cowboy_hat_face:

Personally no. I can do without rails on any 1911 derived handgun.

Not to change the subject of discussion, but if anyone knows where I can get a rail for my Ruger SR1911? (if its even possible) Thanks ahead of time.

Not pretty, but:

Yep. I agree 100%. Rails look ugly on JMB’s beautiful, original masterpiece.

Sorry, can’t agree with you here.
The lower picture in your post looks so much better than the railed version.
Long live the original JMB 1911.

I’m a dick. Here’s some railed, polymer’d 1911 awesomeness at y’all haters:

JMB’s vision was robust. I think he’d approve.

He’s turning in his grave right now!:joy:

If you want a 1911 that looks like the original than buy one but it is also 2020 so…polymer, rails, red dots, threaded barrels and compensators, make it yours.

Thats what I meant to say. Sorry guys, I should have been more specific. When I said rail, I was thinking the top of the 1911. Like put on a holosun red dot / reflex sight on it. I dont know if I can do that with mine tho?

I have one more railed 1911. He’d approve of this one as well:

Actually, you can mount a dot using the lower rail.

@TacticalBilly

He doesn’t have a lower rail so…you can use rear sight notch to mount a mounting plate for a red dot.
